POSITION SUMMARY:
Brevard Regional Hyperbaric Center (BRHC) is seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Assistant to support clinical operations in our outpatient Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and wound care facility. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in patient care coordination, rooming, documentation, and assisting with medical procedures under the direction of our licensed providers.
This is a patient-facing role requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and room patients for exams, document medical histories, and record vital signs.
Assist providers during examinations, wound care procedures, and hyperbaric treatments.
Maintain clean and well-stocked exam and treatment rooms.
Perform EHR documentation, patient check-ins, and appointment follow-ups.
Coordinate scheduling of patient treatments and communicate next steps clearly.
Manage medical supplies and ensure equipment is clean and functional.
Provide patient education and reinforce care instructions as directed by the provider.
Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold safety and infection control protocols.
Collaborate closely with providers, nurses, front desk staff, and billing/coding teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant diploma or certification strongly preferred.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) designation preferred.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical or outpatient setting, ideally in wound care or specialty medicine.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) — Athenahealth experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
CPR/BLS certification preferred or required within 30 days of hire.
Ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed in a clinical setting.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $20.00
