The Operations Manager is responsible for owning and leading day-to-day operations for a growing short-term rental management company. This is a senior leadership role with real authority and accountability—not a coordinator or task-management position. You will run the operation, make decisions independently, and ensure the business operates smoothly without constant founder involvement.
You serve as the operational filter between the team and the founder. Your success is measured by how effectively issues are solved before they escalate, how consistently the team executes, and how reliable and predictable operations become over time. This role requires ownership, judgment, and the confidence to act without waiting for permission.
Own daily operations across a portfolio of short-term rental properties, ensuring consistent execution and performance
Make independent operational decisions and resolve issues without unnecessary escalation
Lead, manage, and hold an operations team accountable
Enforce, refine, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Proactively identify risks, inefficiencies, and breakdowns—and fix them before they become emergencies
Oversee cleaning, maintenance, turnovers, and guest-impacting operations to ensure standards are met
Act as the primary operational problem-solver, shielding the founder from day-to-day issues
Deliver clear weekly operational reporting, visibility into performance, and action plans
Build systems that create fewer fires, fewer surprises, and more predictable outcomes
2 years of experience in short-term rentals, vacation rentals, or property management
1 year of proven leadership or management experience in an operations role
Direct experience overseeing cleaners, maintenance, turnovers, or guest operations
Demonstrated ability to improve systems and workflows—not just follow existing ones
Strong decision-making skills, including comfort acting with incomplete information
High accountability mindset with the ability to own outcomes, not just tasks
Clear communicator who can push back thoughtfully and advocate for operational excellence
Wait for instructions instead of taking initiative
Need constant direction, reassurance, or approval
Avoid making decisions under pressure
Prefer routine task execution over ownership and leadership
Are uncomfortable being accountable for results
