Position Summary

As a Food Runner/Busser at El Patron Orlando, you are the ultimate "utility player" and the engine that keeps our dining room moving. You play a critical role in our mission to share authentic Mexican flavors by ensuring that food arrives at the table hot and fresh, and that our dining environment remains clean and inviting for every guest.

Reporting to the Front of House Manager, you will work at a fast pace to support both the kitchen and the service team. You are the final set of eyes on every plate before it reaches the guest and the person responsible for resetting the stage for our next arrival. This role is perfect for a high-energy individual who takes pride in teamwork and thrives in a bustling restaurant atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • The Hand-Off: Deliver dishes from the kitchen to the correct table and guest with speed, accuracy, and a brief, friendly description of the food.

  • Table Turnover: Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently to minimize wait times for incoming guests.

  • Service Support: Proactively assist servers by refilling water, clearing used glassware, and responding to immediate guest needs (like extra napkins or condiments).

  • Cleanliness: Maintain the organization of the expo line and ensure all guest areas, including the floor and condiment stations, are spotless

  • Efficient Food Delivery: Deliver food orders from the kitchen to the correct guest tables quickly and accurately, ensuring dishes are presented according to our standards.

  • Table Turnover: Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly after guests depart to ensure the dining room is ready for the next party.

  • Menu Knowledge: Maintain a basic understanding of our menu items and ingredients to answer brief guest questions during food delivery.

  • Dining Room Maintenance: Monitor the dining area for spills, debris, or stray glassware, ensuring a safe and pristine environment for our guests.

  • Station Support: Keep the expo line and service stations stocked with necessary supplies, such as polished silverware, clean trays, and garnishes.

  • Guest Assistance: Proactively offer refills on water and chips, and assist servers by clearing used plates (pre-bussing) throughout the meal.

  • Team Communication: Work closely with the Kitchen Expo and Front of House team to coordinate timing and ensure no guest is left waiting.

  • Sanitization Standards: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including regular handwashing and proper use of cleaning chemicals for tables and high-touch surfaces.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant environment is preferred, but we are happy to train individuals with a strong work ethic and a "can-do" attitude.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift (up to 8 hours) and comfortably lift/carry trays or tubs weighing up to 30 lbs.

  • Pace: Ability to maintain a high level of energy and speed, especially during peak dining hours (nights and weekends).

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with the kitchen team, servers, and guests in a loud, busy environment.

  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including the requirement to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Professionalism: A clean, professional appearance and a friendly demeanor that aligns with our family-oriented hospitality.

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to double-check orders for accuracy and notice small details like a guest needing a refill or a table needing to be wiped.

  • Legal Requirement: Must meet the minimum age requirement for employment in a restaurant in the state of Florida.

Compensation & Schedule

Hourly Salary - $17-$25

Schedule: Full-time - AM & PM, Weekdays & Weekends
