Job Overview

The Clear Creek Group is seeking an experienced, analytical, and business-minded Director of Finance & Controller to lead the company's financial operations while serving as a strategic partner to our leadership team.

This role combines hands-on financial management with broader financial leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will oversee accounting, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial controls, banking relationships, and financial planning while helping senior leadership make informed business decisions that support long-term growth.

The ideal candidate possesses both technical accounting expertise and strong business acumen. This position requires someone who can comfortably move between detailed financial oversight and high-level strategic discussions, translating financial information into practical business recommendations.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Serve as the company's trusted advisor to ownership and executive leadership.

  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning processes.

  • Develop and monitor key financial and operational performance metrics.

  • Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Support strategic decision-making through financial modeling, scenario planning, forecasting, and business analysis.

  • Evaluate capital investments, major contracts, new business initiatives, and growth opportunities.

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Oversee all accounting activities including:

    • General ledger accounting

    • Accounts payable

    • Accounts receivable

    • Payroll oversight

    • Account reconciliations

    • Month-end and year-end close processes

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls.

  • Manage debt obligations, banking activity, balance sheet integrity, and financial recordkeeping.

  • Ensure timely collection of receivables and efficient processing of payables.

  • Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation.

Treasury, Cash Flow & Banking

  • Lead cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and treasury management activities.

  • Develop cash management strategies that support operational and growth objectives.

  • Maintain and strengthen banking and financial institution relationships.

  • Manage credit facilities, debt obligations, and working capital requirements.

  • Proactively identify financial risks and opportunities affecting liquidity and profitability.

Reporting, Compliance & Controls

  • Prepare and publish timely financial statements, management reports, dashboards, and analyses.

  • Present financial results and recommendations to ownership and executive leadership.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate external audits and work closely with accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.

  • Oversee tax filings, business licenses, and regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies.

Systems, Process Improvement & Business Partnership

  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, improve reporting, strengthen controls, and reduce administrative burden.

  • Evaluate financial systems and recommend technology enhancements where appropriate.

  • Partner with operations, property management, villa rentals, concierge, and leadership teams to improve decision-making and business performance.

  • Help build scalable systems, reporting tools, and financial processes to support future growth.

Leadership Team Development

  • Establish priorities, accountability, and performance expectations within the company.

  • Foster strong communication and collaboration across all departments.

  • Build trusted relationships with employees, homeowners, vendors, banking partners, and outside advisors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or other advanced financial credentials preferred.

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • GAAP

    • Financial reporting

    • Budgeting and forecasting

    • Treasury management

    • Internal controls

  • Demonstrated experience with financial modeling, business analysis, and strategic planning.

  • Experience leading finance and accounting functions within a growing organization preferred.

  • Hospitality, property management, real estate, professional services, or other service-based business experience preferred.

  • Advanced proficiency with accounting, financial reporting, and business intelligence systems.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

Location

This position may be performed remotely. Candidates located in the Mountain West region are strongly preferred, with particular interest in:

  • Utah

  • Wyoming

  • Colorado

  • Idaho

  • Surrounding Mountain West states

Salt Lake City-area candidates will receive special consideration due to proximity to Jackson Hole and ease of travel.

Quarterly travel to Jackson Hole is expected. Additional travel may occasionally be required for leadership meetings, planning sessions, and team development.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary - $150,000 - $175,000+ based on experience
