About The Company

Casago Select Stays is a vacation rental company where great people create exceptional experiences. From our humble beginnings with a simple idea, we've grown into a trusted industry leader delivering genuine hospitality to every guest.

What sets us apart isn't just our technology or our property standards—it's our culture of doing things the right way, building trust, and supporting one another as a team. When you join Casago Select Stays, you're becoming part of a company that values your contributions, invests in your growth, and gives you the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the homeowners and guests we serve every day.

About the Role

If you'd rather spend your day caring for beautiful vacation homes than sitting behind a desk, enjoy solving practical problems, and take pride in keeping things running smoothly, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

As our Property Caretaker, you'll become the trusted guardian of a portfolio of vacation rental homes throughout Shaver Lake and Lakeshore, California. These mountain communities are located above 5,000 feet in elevation, and this is a year-round position that requires working and traveling between properties during changing mountain conditions, including winter weather.

Every day brings something different, from conducting inspections and preparing homes for arriving guests to handling light maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and helping create exceptional experiences for homeowners and guests.

This is a highly independent, hands-on role where you'll have the autonomy to manage your daily priorities while working alongside a supportive operations team. Success comes from your attention to detail, dependability, strong communication, and ability to proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact the homeowner or guest experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of an assigned portfolio of vacation rental homes throughout Shaver Lake and Lakeshore, ensuring every property consistently meets Casago Select Stays' quality and presentation standards.

  • Conduct detailed property inspections before guest and homeowner arrivals, identifying maintenance needs, safety concerns, inventory shortages, and cleanliness issues before they become problems.

  • Perform light maintenance and troubleshooting, including replacing light bulbs, adjusting door hardware, unclogging toilets, troubleshooting WiFi and electronics, maintaining hot tubs, and completing other minor repairs.

  • Remove trash, recycling, debris, and other items as needed to ensure homes remain clean, safe, and guest-ready.

  • Respond professionally to guest and homeowner questions by phone, email, support ticket, or in person, resolving issues whenever possible and escalating more complex concerns appropriately.

  • Proactively identify property needs and opportunities for improvement, helping prevent maintenance or service issues before they affect homeowners or guests.

  • Maintain accurate inspection notes, document property conditions and completed work, communicate findings promptly, and follow issues through to resolution.

  • Assist housekeeping, maintenance, and operations teams during busy periods and provide cross-coverage for teammates when needed.

  • Support the onboarding of new vacation rental properties by assisting Business Development Representatives and the local operations team with inspections, setup, and quality readiness.

  • Participate in on-call coverage as needed, with the ability to respond to properties within approximately 30–60 minutes when scheduled or required.

  • Represent Casago Select Stays professionally in every interaction with homeowners, guests, vendors, and fellow team members.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the properties, guests, homeowners, and local operations team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in property care, maintenance, housekeeping, hospitality, construction, landscaping, or another hands-on role required.

  • Experience within vacation rentals, hotels, hospitality, facilities, or property management is strongly preferred.

  • Previous account management, client management, homeowner relations, or other relationship-based customer service experience is preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and genuine pride in producing high-quality work.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize changing responsibilities throughout the day.

  • Comfortable working independently while managing multiple properties and tasks.

  • Confident using smartphones, tablets, and mobile applications to complete inspections, document work, and communicate with the team.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills when interacting with homeowners, guests, vendors, and coworkers.

  • Dependable, proactive, and willing to roll up your sleeves wherever help is needed.

  • Ability to safely drive a manual transmission vehicle and meet company insurance requirements for operation of company vehicles.

  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Shaver Lake and Lakeshore year-round.

  • Frequent driving and travel between assigned properties throughout the market is required.

  • Hospitality is a seven-day-a-week business, so flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs is required.

  • On-call availability may be required, including the ability to respond to properties within approximately 30–60 minutes when scheduled for coverage.

  • Ability to safely operate a manual transmission work truck, subject to company insurance approval.
